The mind is faster than the hand
slightly magical
leaping ahead of the pen
Making and painting
chasing and collecting
the drifting pieces.

Running from the grandiose
to the minuscule
squinting to see both
at the same time.
The blurred line between poet and painter
sculptor and collector of the everyday.

Discarded by the wayside
rediscovered with wonder in the spring
re born by attention
to the small details of amazement
that give today the opportunity
to become tomorrow.
